LISTENING NO. 12: 007 - The Living Daylights

The expression "living daylights" is a very limited one in English, restricted to a couple of expressions:

"To knock/beat the living daylights out of someone"
"To scare the living daylights out of someone"

beat/knock the (living) daylights out of sb

to hit someone very hard, many times

I'll knock the living daylights out of him if he says that again!

frighten/scare, etc. the (living) daylights out of sb

to frighten someone very much

Don't jump out on me like that! You scared the living daylights out of me!
